Did you know that the developers of the artificial intelligence Chat Bots can have access to the interactions you have with your AI?
That is an alarming situation, because again we can make ourselves the question. Where is our safe space or digital privacy? Anyone with power can have access to it and make whatever they want with it? That isn't an ethic thing and a lot of organizations worlwide are trying to control this information leaks.
An information leak of this magnitude could severely compromise people's personal lives and when we talk about our younger childs we have to be really worried about it. Because deep web exists and hackers and people with bad intentions exist and we have to pay attention about what our children, adolescents and younger generations are talking with AI chat bots and who is reading that....
In health area we have a Helsinki Declaration that regulates our professional ethics when we have to treat patients even if we are not going to give them a treatment. Every health professional has the responsibility to take care of human wellbeing and I bring this into account because as health professionals are responsible of taking care of other people, with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence the developers and technical people that have access to this information or data as they name it. Is like having access to the personal mind of other people and it is not fair.
It is enough of not being willing to take responsibility for the information they receive. All developers or individuals who handle sensitive information must be accountable for the magnitude of what they are receiving, because these are personal thoughts and they are dealing with the mental health of a person who is relying on a technological tool. AI is still just a tool, so it is time for the Declaration of Helsinki to be extended to all professions that work with human beings or work with human thoughts.
It is time to demand this ethical commitment from technology developers or those who will have access to this information to improve their AI models. This is a fundamental issue because automation is happening so fast that if we don't start to regulate it better, there will be more and more severe cases like the latest one where a person committed suicide because of a digital chatbot.
UNESCO is working hard to promote ethical guidelines while using AI but there are still a lot of private and public employers and organizations that still work without this principles. So as an academic is our responsible to promote more ethics and safe places while using our digital spaces. We desearve safe technologies.
I share some examples that UNESCO is promoting and that "UNESCO recognizes its benefits but also the potential ethical issues and problems particularly with its use of non-invasive interventions"
- Neurotechnology is a fast-expanding field dedicated to understanding the brain and creating technologies that interact with it.
- Universal Declaration on Bioethics and Human Rights
- Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence
- World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology
- Declaration of Ethical Principles in relation to Climate Change
- International Declaration on Human Genetic Data
- Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights
I am working on this petition in Change.org it would be amazing if you could help me sign it.
